OpmerkingenMy timing may be off by +/- 30 minutes or so. We were taking pictures of the lunar eclipse that night so I used the time stamp on the photo as a time reference. After seeing this, I knew this was more than just a fireball. I've never seen a fireball shoot almost straight down to earth. From googling this experience, it sounds like it was a bolide. I've never seen anything like this at any meteor showers or times where I was star gazing. I was at the beach, in the middle of Waikiki, which is a city area filled with light. Granted, the full moon was being eclipsed by the earth. So that might have helped. I know this is a long time from when the event happened. I had talked with my friend about this night many times. I recently tried looking up bolide and meteor detections. I never found anything reported from this event. I'd like to at least attempt to report it because it felt unique and could be important. I also wasn't aware back when we saw it that these events can be reported.
